Second Annual Duck Derby to be Held to Benefit Making Strides Against Brest Cancer

(Hershey, PA) July 31, 2018 – Hundreds of yellow rubber duckies will fload downt he Susquehanna River on Sunday, Sept. 2 for the second annual Duck Derby to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Harrisburg, sponsored by Belco Community Credit Union.

The event will be held from 6-7 p.m. during the three-day Kipona festival in Riverfront Park on North Front Street in Harrisburg. Proceeds from the Duck Derby help to support American Cancer Society programs and services for cancer survivors and their families such as transportation assistance and education outreach.

“This is a fun way to raise money for such an important cause,” said Shaq Glover, American Cancer Society Community Development Manager. “Fighting this disease takes a village and we are proud to partner with Belco Community Credit Union to do so.”

This year’s derby will include a special souvenir duck sponsored by Belco and featuring the credit union’s and Making Stride’s logos. These ducks and standard yellow ducks can be purchased for $5 while pink survivor ducks can be purchased for $8. Souvenir ducks can be purchased at any Belco branch in the Harrisburg area, including Carlisle, Newville and Lebanon.

“We are pleased to be able to sponsor the Duck derby and help raise money for Making Strides,” said Amey Sgrignoli, Belco CEO. “The walk is a powerful event that brings thousands of people together to fight breast cancer.”

The owner of the winning duck – the first to cross the finish line – will win $125. Second place garners $75 and the third place winner will take home a $50 gift card.
